WHY: The majority of girls in Uganda have no access to sanitary supplies and are forced to use dirty rags, towels, or anything else they can find. During this time of the month, a girl will often miss school to avoid embarrassment which can result in up to 270 missed lessons a year and often expulsion from school because with so many absences, she cannot keep up with the rest of the class.
